I’m so glad you’re here!

Welcome to the place where I share my heart, my life and my faith.  It is truly an honor to have you read my words and step into my world!  I write about faith, grace, surrender and the wonder of encountering God in the every day.

A little bit about me….

My name is Heather Faria.

I’m all about living this life as an adventure.

Not the cheesy, action movie kind, but the kind that produces unwavering faith, passionate love, and total freedom just from knowing Jesus.

To me, there is no story more epic or beautiful, and you and I get to be a part of it.

Yeah, I know you’re thinking of your boring, average messy life, and how it doesn’t even resemble anything close to epic or beautiful, but I believe that when we have faith in His bigger picture, our everyday ordinary can be every day sacred.

Everyday sacred pic

On the surface, there is nothing particularly exciting about my life that might cause you to ooh and awe, but for me remembering that my little story gets to be a part of His extraordinary story makes even my mundane moments filled with wonder.

So here’s a little peek into my wondrous, sacred, ordinary life:

I get to call the beautiful Napa Valley my home and I spend my days here with my sweet little family.

Family for blog

I married an incredible man who is strong, simple and steadfast, but is also just as much of a crazy dreamer as me!  We have a precious little boy who keeps us on the move all day, and love the life that we are building together!

I’m happiest when reading a good book, am a little obsessed with floral print anything and love decorating, designing and showing hospitality.  I think vacations are best spent learning and experiencing, and there is nothing that lifts my soul like a deep conversation with a friend.

I’ve never quite fit into the common mold for girls my age.  Besides the fact that I got married at nineteen and had by first baby by twenty-one, I’ve always had a tendency to go against the societal grain when it comes to my faith and lifestyle.

For a long time I struggled with this contrary aspect of myself.  You could say, I was even a little embarrassed for people to get to know the real me.  However recently, God has been revealing to me the beauty in embracing my oddities and giving me the courage to live shamelessly.

Shameless living, at this time in my life, means being honest about the messiness in my heart.

Because as you will quickly see, I am a complete mess.

For starters, I’m a good girl by nature and so perfectionism is a disease that I fight with the grace of God on a moment by moment basis.

I also frequently battle mild depression, and while most days I am totally fine, there have been periods of time in my life where it has been so overwhelming I can barely function.

I’ve struggled with feeling lonely and misunderstood most of my life, and I’m always fighting the tension between this intense desire to prove myself, and realizing that I am already pre-approved by the Only One who matters.

I could go on, but I think you get the point.

So for the sake of being concise, (which by now I’m sure you can see I’m clearly not), I’ll get right to the main thing you need to know about me:

I believe that the God of the Bible is real.  I believe He is good.  And I believe He takes messy, broken hearts and makes them whole.

This is the heart of the adventure.  It is the eternal perspective that gives my life and your life redemption, meaning, and purpose.

It is not only what shapes the whole core of my existence and I believe with all my being, but it will be the foundation for pretty much everything I say.

Because you see, I love Him so much, I simply cannot keep my mouth shut about Him.

I believe that God is real and changes lives because He changed mine.  Because of the presence of Jesus in my life, I literally know what it is to experience supernatural peace in the most terrifying of circumstances, to have comfort and be held in the loneliest of places, and to receive grace and redemption in the midst of deepest shame.

He is my life, and I will never be the same because of Him.

And so my prayer for you, dear reader-

Is that in reading these words here, you realize that no matter how ordinary, messy, or broken you think you are, when you have faith in His bigger picture He can make your everyday ordinary moments, everyday sacred too…

I want this to be a place where the truth of the holy Word of God shines so brightly into your soul that the walls between you and Him come crumbling down and seeds of faith are planted in their place.

And most of all, I want you to be reminded of how the invisible God, who seems so quiet and so far away at times, is real, is personal, and is present in your everyday.

So right now, let’s slow down together.

Could you and I for a little while just be still?

And listen…

And let His Word saturate our minds and our hearts until we are overwhelmed by the wonder of His presence.

What you’ll find here.

Everyday Sacred-

On a regular day I will write posts about life and what God is speaking to my heart.  I love doing series, so you’ll probably see a few of those from time to time.  If you have any topics that you would like to request, feel free to message me your suggestions!  I’m always in need of new ideas!  Here are some of my favorite posts:

Book Club-

I have an addiction to books and find reading to be one of my primary sources of inspiration, so a few times a year I will host a Book Club for us to do together!  You can find more about that here.

Surrender Stories-

I believe God gave us our stories to share as a means of setting people free, edifying and encouraging one another, strengthening faith, and eliminating loneliness.  Surrender Stories is an opportunity for you to share your story here on this blog!  This is not your typical guest post situation, and is open to anyone who feels compelled to share, blogger or not – provided your story fits within the guidelines laid out.  For more information on how to participate, click here.

Project: Connect-

Project: Connect is a special little experiment that I am dying for you to be a part of!  If you are longing for a way to take your relationships to a deeper, more Christ centered focus, if you are struggling to be known, and/or if you are feeling the call to step out of your comfort zone and reach out to others, (which we all are called to, so don’t tell me you aren’t!) than this is for you!  Check out the details here.

  5. I’m so happy to have found your blog, Heather! You wrote: “I’ve struggled with feeling lonely and misunderstood most of my life, and I’m always fighting the tension between this intense desire to prove myself, and realizing that I am already pre-approved by the Only One who matters.” That resonates with me because it is also a big struggle for me. I feel like I’m constantly striving and trying to prove myself, while not being understood by people around me when in reality I am already holy and chosen by God. Can’t wait to read through posts on here!
